Dr Boon Lim is one of London's leading cardiologists and electrophysiologists. He specialises in heart rhythm disturbances, pacing and syncope. He was awarded the President's Medal at the Royal Society of Medicine for his research on the role of the autonomic nervous system in heart rhythm disturbances. He is considered one of the UK's lead experts on syncope and is the clinical lead for the Imperial Syncope Diagnostic Service based at the Hammersmith Hospital, London. He is the British Cardiovascular Society reviewer for the European Society of Cardiology Guidelines on syncope. Dr Lim is also an experienced cardiac electrophysiologist. He specialises of heart arrhythmias especially the treatment of complex or recurrent atrial fibrillation (AF). He has performed over 1200 electrophysiology and ablation procedures. He also treats patients with other arrhythmias, including ventricular ectopy and ventricular tachycardias, supraventricular tachycardias (SVTs). He has performed over 800 pacemaker and complex device implantations, including defibrillators. Dr Lim is a keen innovator and adopter of new technology to treat patients and train future cardiologists. Dr Lim supervises several PhD students and has presented over 60 peer-reviewed publications and over 200 abstracts at both national and international conferences. He has a particular interest in improving the mapping and ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF), as well as developing novel strategies to treat vasovagal syncope to improve the quality of life of patients who have recurrent blackouts.
