I am one of London's leading cardiologists and electrophysiologists, voted Top Doctor of the year in the UK by peers in 2017 and 2018. I specialise in heart rhythm disturbances, pacing and syncope. I have trained at some of the UK's top medical schools and teaching hospitals. I obtained a double first class honours degree from Cambridge University, before completing my medical rotations in the Oxford Deanery and North West London Deanerys, which allowed me to train in top London teaching centres of excellence at St Mary's Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital and the Heart Hospital. In 2010, I successfully completed my PhD studying the role of the autonomic nervous system in Atrial Fibrillation at Imperial College London, where I focussed on developing novel techniques to understand and treat atrial fibrillation. I was awarded the President's Medal at the Royal Society of Medicine for my research on the role of the autonomic nervous system in heart rhythm disturbances. I am considered one of the UK's lead experts on syncope and I'm the clinical lead for the Imperial Syncope Diagnostic Service based at the Hammersmith Hospital, London. I am the British Cardiovascular Society reviewer for the European Society of Cardiology Guidelines on syncope. I am also an experienced cardiac electrophysiologist. I specialise in heart arrhythmias - especially the treatment of complex or recurrent atrial fibrillation (AF). I have performed and supervised over 3200 electrophysiology and ablation procedures. I also treat patients with other arrhythmias, including ventricular ectopy and ventricular tachycardias, supraventricular tachycardias (SVTs). I have performed over 1000 pacemaker and complex device implantations, including defibrillators. I am a keen innovator and adopter of new technology to treat patients and train future cardiologists. I supervise several PhD students and have presented over 80 peer-reviewed publications and over 400 abstracts at both national and international conferences. I have a particular interest in improving the mapping and ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF), as well as developing novel strategies to treat vasovagal syncope to improve the quality of life of patients who have recurrent blackouts.
