I graduated from Cambridge University in 1991. I finishing my core medical training and decided to start my training in cardiology in London. During my years as a senior cardiologist, I went on to finish my PhD in vascular biology before being appointed a NHS consultant at Hammersmith Hospital. My specialist areas include causes of chest pain, shortness of breath and high blood pressure. I also specialise in cardiology procedures such as angioplasty, ASD and PFO repair. I also perform valve implantation through a catheter, also called a TAVI procedure. I also love to teach and currently a senior lecturer in Imperial College London. My lectures often consist of topics from my various areas of research which are published in peer reviewed journals. These include coronary artery disease, valvular disease and structural and congenital heart disease. I firmly believe in patient safety and doing what is in the best interest of my patients firstly and foremost. This led me to be the director of clinical governance for the surgery, cancer, cardiovascular division at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London, and a director of London Cardiovascular Clinic, a private cardiology service.
