My orthopaedic practice in London is now almost exclusively focused on sports injuries and degenerative conditions of the knee. My interests relate to meniscus , ligament and cartilage problems – and surgery for arthritis - namely joint preservation surgery, osteotomy and joint replacement. I trained in London, on the original St Mary’s Hospital orthopaedic programme and in specialist hip and knee units including the Arthroplasty Foundation and the Rudy Ellis Sports Medicine Institute, Louisville, USA. I was awarded a distinction and gold medal when completing my Surgical Fellowship Examination and taught anatomy at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical Schools. I teach both undergraduates and postgraduate medical students and am an honorary senior lecturer and clinical anatomist at Imperial College, London. I also teach on the postgraduate London Orthopaedic Training Programme and in developing countries - contributing to the Kenya Orthopaedic Project. In 2001, I was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals and then in 2004, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at St Mary’s and Imperial College School of Medicine, London. I am a team member of the successful Major Trauma Unit at St Mary’s Hospital. I have published extensively in the field of orthopaedics and lecture nationally and internationally and have a particular interest in high latitude medical care and orthopaedics in extreme environments.
