Kidney stone disease is one of the most common renal problems around. The prevalence of stone disease is more common in the Afro-Caribbean and Asian populations. In percutaneous stone removal, keyhole technique is used for removal of large renal stone disease. I have managed to remove large stones through very small incisions and made stone surgery look easy. Most stone surgeries nowadays are done without the need of any incisions through the access into the ureter via endoscopic instruments and advanced laser technology. In most of the endoscopic stone surgeries, the patient goes home the same day and even after removal of large kidney stones, the stay is only 1 night. I am a consultant urologist based in City & Sandwell hospitals in the NHS, and also practising privately at Spire Little Aston Hospital, BMI Priory Birmingham and Derby Nuffield hospitals. I specialise in providing all kinds of kidney stone treatments including percutaneous stone removal as well as ureteroscopic stone removal. I have revolutionised stone surgery in Birmingham as previously, patients needed a hospital stay of 3-7 days for similar surgeries. I trained at the famous Dow Medical College in Pakistan and later my specialist urology surgical training was in Newcastle. I became a Member of the Royal College of Urology Surgeons in 2008 and a Fellow of the College in 2015. I have worked and trained with the now-retired Prof. Arthur Smith from New York, who was the world's pioneer of endoscopic urology and was awarded "Legend of Urology" by the Canadian Journal of Urology. I have worked in some of the best urology centres in the UK, Asia and the USA. I have been fortunate to gain a wide experience from many specialist centres around the world. Understanding the huge benefit this has given my career has led me to fundraise and support charities that have helped deliver and train urologists in developing countries. I am also an Honorary Visiting Lecturer at the Dow University of Health Sciences where my training began. In the UK I now teach and train urology surgeons at the beginning of their careers. I am a passionate cricket supporter and relax by cooking with my family.
