Medstars in their Eyes | Mr Andrew Robinson

Andrew Robinson, podiatrist in Hertfordshire

We caught up with Hertfordshire-based podiatrist, Mr Andrew Robinson, to talk all things feet (and a bit about motorbikes…)

A genuine, kind and empathetic health specialist, we always look forward to catching up with Andrew, and we certainly wouldn’t hesitate recommending him to our own family and friends. You only have to check out his patient testimonials for further reassurance. Many of Andrew’s clients have been visiting him for years – but he’s always enthusiastic about building relationships with new patients and new feet!

Andrew’s your man if you’re looking for someone who truly goes that extra mile. He displays genuine artwork in his waiting room – with some of his own creations dotted around too – to ensure his patients are as comfortable and relaxed as possible. You can read more about Andrew’s artwork here.

He also offers toenail painting and is qualified to trim fingernails – services he has come to realise are extremely popular with some of his older, long-term clients who don’t feel comfortable visiting a nail salon or who are unable to get their carers to assist them with such tasks. He even custom designs his own orthotic accommodating shoes.

It seems shoes speak louder than words… over to you Andrew 🙂

My friends and family describe me as…

“Friendly, happy and reassuring.”

I love my job because…

“I love making people feel better and solving foot problems and seeing the difference between the foot before and after. It makes my day.”

My greatest professional accomplishment is…

“I’ve been in the job 22 years now and I’m 60 years old so I must be doing something right! I have many long-standing clients. Working privately, if you aren’t good at what you do you’ll be out of business. I think I’ve been treating one client for 20 years now. I enjoy keeping them mobile and active. I also take pride in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. I refer patients onto appropriate specialists when necessary and I always treat patients holistically. As well as this, I always support my professional body and attend local branch meetings and national meetings.”

If I wasn’t a podiatrist, I would be a…

“I’d love to be a famous motorcyclist, I love watching MotoGP. I also love motorcycling and I have my own Harley-Davidson. I also treated myself to a Ducati Panigale 959 for my 60th birthday!”

My greatest achievement outside of work is…

“My family. I have two grown-up children in their mid-30s and two wonderful grandchildren.”

I’m inspired by…

“Professionally, I’m inspired by Clive Burnham. He’s a retired chiropodist and he has inspired me to make sure I get things right the first time around. Personally, I’m inspired by Italian motorcyclist Valentino Rossi!”

The best advice I have been given is…

“I was in the territorial army when I was 19. I used to jump out of aeroplanes. The advice I was given during my time there was to get your equipment right and that has stuck with me as a podiatrist. It’s important to double-check everything is perfect for the patient’s arrival and it’s the same with motorcycling. You can’t drive with a flat tyre!”

My favourite place to visit is…

“I love the countryside in Great Britain, especially the north-east of England. Hadrian’s Wall is one of England’s most famous Romans ruins and it runs across Northumberland. I enjoy visiting but it is wet, wild and windy so I have to make sure I have the right equipment!”

Music that makes me happy includes…

“I love music from the 70s. The Carpenters are my favourite – I’m a hopeless romantic.”

I like Medstars because…

“It’s very professional and it’s nice to be part of a community of experts. It’s also good to be supported by things like blogs and social media because tech isn’t really my thing!”
