After studying medicine in the Univesity of London my specialist training in cardiology was at the prestigious Harefield and the Royal Brompton Hospitals. Whilst at the Royal Brompton I was awarded a MD degree in 2000 for my research in the epidemiology and management of acute coronary syndromes. Acute coronary syndromes result from a sudden blockage in heart blood vessels causing conditions ranging from unstable angina to a heart attack. In the NHS I have been the Clinical Lead for Cardiology at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and I am currently the Clinical Director for all medical specialities at the hospital. My specialist interests include angina, valvular heart disease, echocardiography, pacemakers and interventional cardiology. My Interest in heart failure has led to my training and expertise in the implantation of pacemakers (including bi-ventricular devices) and defibrillators in the treatment of sudden death syndrome. I am involved in research in the management of acute coronary syndromes and have been published in peer-reviewed journals.
