MEng MBBS MRCP PhD
Dr Nick Linton is a leading cardiologist based in London, specialising in rhythm problems with the heart. We are impressed with his master's degree in Engineering and how he has applied those principles to invent new diagnostic methods in cardiology.
"I am a cardiologist specialising in the treatment of heart rhythm problems. Before I did my medical degree, I was studying engineering at the University of Oxford which enabled me to develop new and innovative cardiac mapping systems."

Prior to medicine, I completed a Master's degree in Engineering, Economics and Management from Oxford University, graduating with First Class Honours. I then went on to study medicine at King's College, London and qualified with Distinction in 2002. I trained in cardiology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust where I completed a PhD, investigating the mapping and ablation of organised atrial arrhythmias. To further build on my foundations of heart rhythm disorders, I spent a year training in France with Professors Haïssaguerre, Jaïs and Hocini at their leading electrophysiology unit in Bordeaux. As a cardiologist with a background in engineering, my research has focused on the interface between the two disciplines. I was involved with the invention of a new approach to mapping that is now licensed by Imperial Innovations for use in a leading cardiac mapping system. I continue my focus on research into atrial and ventricular arrhythmias and hold an Intermediate Research Fellowship from the British Heart Foundation.
