Before studying medicine, I completed an honours degree in Physiology at Kings College London. I then went on to study medicine at Leicester-Warwick Medical School, and have worked in the Midlands since qualifying in 2004. In addition to my core work as a General Practitioner, until 2017, I also worked as a senior doctor in a busy Accident and Emergency department at Coventry hospital. It was through my work in general practice, that I developed my interest in men’s health. After realising that men’s health was not a dedicated specialty within medicine, I decided to create such a position in order to provide an holistic approach to the care of my male patients. Since then, I have opened up two private Men’s Health clinics, and have been involved in developing and promoting Men’s Health at both a local and national level. I have written medical articles on various male health topics such as testosterone deficiency and erectile dysfunction, as well as promoting awareness of prostate cancer and giving talks to the local community. I understand that men's health is more than just prostates and sexual function. I focus on all aspects of male health including ageing, testosterone deficiency (similar to menopause in women), cardiovascular disease, nutrition and wellness, mental health and much more. Moreover, I believe that men’s health is about changing attitudes towards how we approach our lives, interact with our loved ones, remain productive at work and energetic at home. It is about preventing the onset of illness, maximising our well-being and not accepting age as an inevitable decline in quality of life.
