I am one of the leading Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at St.Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals. I am also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. I have been a working as a consultant since by appointment to the NHS in 2000 where I set up the Fetal Medicine Service at the Royal London and a one-stop Menstrual Disorder clinic at St Bartholomew's Hospital. Both these services now run from the Royal London Hospital. Mr Joseph Aquilina provides a one-stop clinic service with immediate access to Transvaginal ultrasound and Saline Sonography in both NHS and private settings. I am recognised by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists to teach and train gynaecological ultra sound scanning. I have helped lead the debate in best treatments and research as my role as Editor for the Women’s Health Section of Current Opinion in Obstetrics and Gynaecology over the last ten years. My expertise in ultrasound scanning assists my expert management of: • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome • Menstrual Disorders (one-stop clinic) • Pelvic pain and HRT problems Depending on your needs I can often perform the appropriate ultrasound scan during your clinic appointment in order to speed up diagnosis and help decide an appropriate treatment plan. For patients with heavy periods (menorrhagia) I can offer the placement of an Intra-uterine device (IUS) which is a contraceptive device that is placed in the womb that can ease the symptoms.
