Mr Joseph Aquilina is a leading consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at St.Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. Mr Joseph Aquilina has been a working as an NHS consultant since 2000, when he set up the Fetal Medicine Service at the Royal London and a one-stop Menstrual Disorder clinic at St Bartholomew's Hospital. Both these services now run from the Royal London Hospital. Medico-legal experience: - 4 years, approx. 140 cases (May 2017) - I have been doing regular medico-legal work for last 36 months with an average of 3-4 cases per month. - I am a GMC accredited expert witness. - Since 2012 I have been a member of the Federation of Expert Witnesses. - I have been an expert witness in several coroner’s cases in the last 5 years involving perinatal deaths. - I have extensive clinical governance experience with management of gynaecology Serious Untoward Incidents (SUI’s) in my role as chair person for the last 8 years of the Gynaecology Governance Board at St. John and St. Elizabeth hospital. I also sit as participating member of the Hospital Governance Board - I have been the Gynecology representative on the MAC Committee at BMI London Independent Hospital since 2016.
