I qualified in medicine at the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1997. I trained in Anaesthesia in London at Imperial and University College London Hospitals. I specialised in Paediatric Anaesthesia for two years at Great Ormond Street Hospital London, before moving to Birmingham Children's Hospital in 2009 I have lectured nationally and internationally on Paediatric Anaesthesia, specialising in burns, ENT, reconstructive surgery and rare skin disorders. He has been invited visiting Consultant Anaesthetist for complex patients at the Karolinska Institute, Sweden. I have a particular interest in patient safety during surgery. I am the anaesthetic lead for auditing safety, mortality and morbidity at Birmingham Children's Hospital, where I provide anaesthesia for over 600 children and young adults per year.
